STEVE MACGREGOR: We all should support recall of Gov. Snyder

TO THE EDITOR:

I am writing in response to the story published in the June 13 edition of the Pioneer, “Snyder recall campaign gets petition signatures locally,” regarding the recall campaign launched against Gov. Rick Snyder.

While I’m sure the Michigan Education Association has been in full support of the recall, it might be surprising to our Republican-led, arbitrary government that the efforts to recall aren’t the result of any specific group of people.

Quite simply it is the result of the people of Michigan.

Gov. Snyder has arrogantly taken our rights to liberty, free elections and our local identity into his hands so that our trusted state government can “efficiently” run localities considered to be in dire straits. It’s “economic martial law.” It begs the question: If these megalomaniacs struggle with the state’s budget, why in God’s name should they take over a city budget?

Mr. Snyder hasn’t just betrayed teachers, senior citizens, the poor – he has hurt Michigan. The example he has displayed as a public servant is unacceptable.
I urge all Michiganders, despite your political differences, to support this recall.

Our government needs to know when they have beguiled the public. Now is the time.
