  • Police were called at 1:22 p.m. on Monday to the 700 block of South State Street to handle a minor car accident. The driver pulled into a parking lot and hit a manhole, which caused the car’s airbags to deploy. The driver bailed out of the car and the car rolled out onto State Street.
  • Fraud that occurred on Friday night at a bar on the 700 block of South State was reported on Monday. A patron’s credit card was denied on a $220 bar tab. When the employee attempted to contact the owner of the card, the owner, who lives in Comstock Park, said the card had been stolen. The matter is under investigation.
  • During a liquor inspection at 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday at a bar on the 700 block of Perry Avenue, officers were approached by an off-duty Michigan State Police trooper who was having issues with another patron of the bar, a 31-year-old Reed City woman. She was in the restroom smoking and refused to leave upon management request. When told by officers, she refused to comply. She was arrested and lodged on trespassing and hindering or obstructing an officer.
  • At 2:23 a.m. on Tuesday, the same trooper from the previous complaint witnesses a drunken driver at a drive-thru window and held the driver until Big Rapids officers arrived. The 20-year-old Flushing man was arrested for “super drunk” driving and having an open alcohol container in the car.
