Fun with clay

Nearly 20 participate in Festival of the Arts tile workshop

BIG RAPIDS — Pottery instructor Margo Carlson Berke led 17 people in creating decorative clay tiles at a workshop on Tuesday in the Artworks basement.

Participants in the “Sprig Tile Workshop” pressed colored clay into pre-made plaster molds to make natural shapes, including seashells, starfish, pecans, acorns, twigs and more. They then adhered their objects to the 10-inch tiles.
