BIG RAPIDS – Tastes, sights and sounds normally found in countries around the world were all available at Ferris State University on Sunday.

As the final event in a weeklong celebration of the 24th annual International Festival of Cultures, Sunday’s festival featured food from 23 countries, martial arts demonstrations, dancing and instrumental entertainment and a poetry recitation. The finale of the day was a pinata for the children.

About 2,000 people attended the event, which is sponsored by the Office of International Education. While 79 percent of Ferris’ student body is white, the university enrolled a record number of international students, 315, this semester.
