3-D archery shoot fundraiser to be held this month

MECOSTA — A 3-D archery shoot fundraiser will be held later this month to benefit the Costabella Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA).

Registration for the event starts at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on June 17 at the Mecosta County Rod and Gun Club, located at 10600 11 Mile Road in Mecosta.

The cost is $10 per shooter with 6 divisions: men 17 years of age and older, women 17 years of age and older, boys ages 14 to 16, girls ages 14 to 16, boys ages 10 to 13 and girls ages 10 to 13. All shooters 9 years of age and younger will participate for free. All shooters 13 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is requested.

Awards will be given for winning or placing in each division, and each paying participant will be entered to win the top door prize. Other raffles and prizes also will be available.

The newly established branch of the QDMA hopes to raise awareness in the area about Quality Deer Management. It also hopes to join or organize cooperatives and youth education about the future of deer hunters. The money raised will be used to host seminars, banquets and a youth deer check station this fall.

To register for the event or for more information, contact branch president Kasey Thren at (231) 972-3200 or mecostacountyqdma@gmail.com. You also can visit the group’s Facebook page by searching “Costabella QDMA.”
