City approves funding for dog park

Big Rapids City Commissioners approved on Monday a resolution for $12,893 to have Fence Consultants of West Michigan install fencing at the Brutus Dog Park, which sits at the north end of River Street Park. Although a construction start date has yet to be set, city officials expect the fencing to be installed by Labor Day weekend. A grand opening ceremony is scheduled to be held by the Friends of the Big Rapids Dog Park group, which raised the money for the project, at 10 a.m. on Sept. 1 at the park.
