FSU men’s basketball picked to finish third in GLIAC North

BIG RAPIDS — After winning at least a share of the GLIAC North title in each of the past two seasons, the Ferris State men’s basketball team has been selected to finish third in the division in the league’s annual preseason poll.

Additionally, senior guard Kenny Brown has been tabbed as a preseason All-GLIAC First-Team honoree as announced by the league office while senior forward Daniel Sutherlin has claimed preseson second team accolades.

The Bulldogs received four first place votes and 141 total points in the voting process.  Members of the media voted on the preseason poll with the league’s head coaches and sports information directors choosing the preseason all-conference teams.

In the North Division, Michigan Tech was picked to finish first with 157 points and eight first-place votes, Wayne State was picked second with 155 points and nine first-place votes, Ferris State was third with 141 points and four first-place votes, Northwood was fourth with 115 points and two votes.

Grand Valley State was tabbed fifth with 111 points, Lake Superior State was chosen sixth with 68 points, Saginaw Valley State took seventh with 50 points and Northern Michigan was eighth with 31 points.

Findlay was picked first in the South Division with 178 points and 17 first-place votes. The Oilers were followed by Hillsdale College with 159 points and five first-place votes, Ashland with 140 points and a single first-place vote.
