Ferris State falls to Michigan

ANN ARBOR — The Michigan hockey team came out swinging Friday night in winning the opening game of a two-game series with Ferris State, 4-1 at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines out-shot the Bulldogs 37-23 in the contest including holding a 26-14 advantage through two periods.

Michigan opened the scoring just under three minutes into the contest on a goal by Zach Hyman. The Wolverines then increased their lead to 2-0 as Derek DeBlois found the back of the net midway through the opening period.

Ferris State would close the first period with a power-play goal by Travis Ouellette to make the score 2-1. The goal was assisted by Jason Binkley and Garrett Thompson.

Michigan would notch the only goal of the second period on a lamplighter by Luke Moffatt. Lee Moffie would add the lone goal of the third period for the final outcome.

The same two teams play again Saturday night at Yost Ice Arena. Face off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
