Road maintenance to take cut

MECOSTA — Village of Mecosta council members made cuts to their upcoming budget at Monday’s meeting.

Council members cut $8,000 in expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year starting April 1. The funds were taken from multiple line items, said Hope Watson, deputy clerk, including road maintenance, office supplies and planning and zoning.

“Every year we have to make cuts and this year is no different. The council takes what we project to come in as revenue and match the outgoing expenses,” said Watson. “We do not intend on doing any less for the community. We just want to do the same with spending less.”

Mecosta has a projected revenue of $69,200 and expenditures of $69,200.

The council will present its budget to the community at its next meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 1 at the village hall, located at 115 W. Main St. in Mecosta.
