Hundreds of area children and their families turn out to community Easter egg hunts

 

Children spread out across the yard at the Mecosta County Youth and Family Center in Mecosta to collect Easter eggs. More than 100 people turned out for Saturday’s event.

MECOSTA COUNTY – As tens of thousands of eggs rained from the sky over Roben Hood Airport in Big Rapids and the Evart Municipal Airport on Saturday, colored eggs also dotted the yard outside the Mecosta County Youth and Family Center in Mecosta so area families could gather for some Easter fun.

The Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce held its first Mecosta County Communty Easter Egg Drop at Roben Hood Airport. Those who picked up “golden eggs” received special prizes provided by Meijer and the Big Rapids Elks.

The Mecosta County Youth and Family Center drew more than 100 people for family games and an egg hunt. After playing Frisbee, water balloon and egg-carrying relay games, children raced across the yard to gather eggs.
