Two drivers injured in Sunday accident

STANWOOD – Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle accident that took place Sunday in Stanwood.

Mecosta County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident at the intersection of Old State Road and Eight Mile Road at 1:04 p.m. A vehicle driven by a Morley woman failed to yield to a vehicle traveling eastbound on Eight Mile Road. The man from Big Rapids driving the second vehicle was unable to avoid the collision, and both drivers sustained injuries. The woman was transported to Mecosta County Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Off-duty EMS staff were close to the accident and able to treat the drivers immediately. Deputies also received assistance from Mecosta/Austin Fire and Rescue Department and Mecosta County EMS.
