Relay For Life weekend list of events

BIG RAPIDS — Mecosta County’s annual Relay For Life event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m on Saturday in Hemlock Park.

Relay For Life is a 24-hour overnight community event that raises funds for the American Cancer Society, which funds cancer research and patient care.

Below is a list of some of the events scheduled during the weekend at Hemlock Park:

Saturday

  • 9 a.m. — Registration opens at the registration tent, opening ceremonies begin at Center Stage, team lap begins and teams are asked to line up at the pavilion, team pictures at the Survivor Tent and car show opens on the south end of Hemlock Park.
  • 10 a.m. — Silent auction begins under the pavilion.
  • 11 a.m. — Rock ‘n’ roll entertainment with Elvis impersonator at Center Stage.
  • 2 p.m. — Survivor registration begins at the registration tent.
  • 2:30 to 3 p.m. — Costume contest at Center Stage.
  • 3:30 p.m. — Veterans’ lap begins at Center Stage.
  • 4 p.m. — Survivor ceremony begins at Center Stage.
  • 4:30 p.m. — Survivor lap at the pavilion.
  • 5:15 p.m. — Survivor dinner at the survivor tent.
  • 5:45 p.m. — Dessert auction at the survivor tent.
  • 8:30 p.m. — Luminaria ceremony begins at Center Stage.

Sunday

  • Midnight — Pizza and card party at the pavilion.
  • 2 a.m. — Dance party at the pavilion.
  • 6 a.m. — Coffee and donuts at the pavilion.
  • 7 a.m. — Worship at the pavilion.
  • 9 a.m. — Closing ceremonies at Center Stage.
