Court Report: Mecosta County’s 49th Circuit Court

BIG RAPIDS —The following cases were heard this week in Mecosta County’s 49th Circuit Court. Not all cases are reported.

Alisha Ann James, 22, of Rosebush, pleaded guilty to first-degree retail fraud from Walmart and JC Penny. Items valued between $200 to $1,000. She was sentenced to one year and one month to five years in prison with 143 days credit. The court would not object to James participating in boot camp.

Clarence William Strelow III, 31, of Hersey, pleaded guilty to third offense of domestic violence, a felony. The prosecutor recommends a 13-month cap on his sentence. He is scheduled to be sentenced at 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 14.

Landis Steffon Threatt, 26, of Portage, pleaded guilty to one count of delivery of cocaine, his second offense. Two other related drug charges were dismissed. He will be sentenced at 9:15 a.m. on Oct 14.

Samantha Lynn Major, 34, of Hersey, pleaded guilty to possession of Oxycodone. She was sentenced to four months, and 15 days in jail, but that sentence was suspended as long as she complies with the terms of her probation. She will be on probation for one year.

Stephanie Lynn Haynes, 38, of Big Rapids, pleaded guilty to stolen property of more than $1,000; in this case a car. She was sentenced to one year in jail with 46 days credit and placed on three years probation.

Lyle D Thebo, 49, of Rodney, pleaded guilty to larceny from a vehicle; in this case, a computer. He was sentenced to five years in prison and his sentence will run concurrently to his August sentence.
