CCA board to appoint new member

BIG RAPIDS — Crossroads Charter Academy is looking to add a new face to its board of directors at a special meeting today.

Prior to the regular board meeting at 7 p.m. in the elementary school media center, the board will interview two candidates for its open seat on the board. Krissy Workman resigned from the board earlier this year.

Steven Campbell will interview at 5 p.m., and Don Guernsey will interview at 6 p.m. CCA’s board of education appoints its new members, unlike traditional public schools that hold elections. The board interviews are open to the public.

At the regular meeting, board members will discuss the interviews and appoint a new member. They also will discuss the student assessment policy and meeting the state’s best practice requirements for incentive funding.

Various board committees will give reports and make recommendations, including one to approve a bid for snow removal services.

At 8 p.m., the board will enter closed session at the request of a parent to discuss a student issue.
