POLICE BLOTTER: Officers assist EMS with drunk man

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls on Thursday, Jan. 30. All calls might not be reported.

Thursday

  • Police responded to a two-vehicle car accident at 11:03 a.m. at the intersection of Clark Street and Morrison Avenue.
  • Police responded to a complaint about a barking dog without shelter at noon. The dog was taken to the animal shelter.
  • A 78-year-old Stanwood woman was cited for failing to yield at a stop sign at 1:01 p.m. at the intersection of Locust Street and South Michigan Avenue. The woman pulled out in front of a southbound vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Ravenna man, causing a collision.
  • Police assisted EMS with an intoxicated man in a snowbank outside his residence at 1:42 p.m. on East Pine Street. The man was of legal drinking age and uninjured, police said.
  • A 36 -year-old Leroy woman was cited for failing to yield at 5:55 p.m. after exiting a parking lot onto Oak Street. Her vehicle struck a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old Big Rapids woman.
  • A 19-year-old Minnesota woman was cited for violating the basic speed law at 5:55 p.m. after she failed to negotiate a turn from Perry Avenue onto Ferris drive, striking a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Wayland woman.
  • Police responded to a civil dispute at 6:56 p.m. on the 1300 block of Catherine Street.
  • Police served a personal protection order to a man at 7:22 p.m. on the 200 block of South Third Avenue.
  • Police responded to a civil dispute between a 23-year-old and his mother at 10:42 p.m. on the 1100 block of Platt Avenue. The son was moving out and being “disrespectful to mom,” the son left prior to officers arrival and officers’ were told to disregard the call.
