TONY PARKER: The corporate takeover of America

To the editor:

ALEC  — the American Legislative Exchange Council – operates by creating model legislation for state governments, much of which involves privatizing government functions or creating policies that favor corporate profits over public interest.

For example, voter ID laws are authored by the ALEC organization.

The organization’s end goal is corporate profit at the expense of the American citizens. Governors have become no more than CEO’s for the corporate state. The Congressional Republicans are no more than corporate executives that are instructed by the corporate Tea Party to do absolutely nothing for the American people, escept give lip service

The 5 to 4 Republican Supreme court majority ruled in Citizen United that a corporation is a person, thus rewording the Constitution as, “we the corporations.”

It’s sad that the Koch brothers receive millions in taxpayer subsidies among others and 2.1 trillion dollars is offshored by these corporations to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.

Insurance companies poured millions into propaganda ads to fight against Obamacare so now they have to spend more of your premiums on healthcare, instead of using them to pay CEO bonuses.

The one threat they hate the most is our right to vote, and that also is, and has been under attack by the Republicans.

Ninety-five percent of the wealth in this country, generated since the recession, has gone to the top one-percent .

Republican Congressional corporate executive Paul Ryan is at it again with his budget that once again gives the top one-percent more tax breaks while having the middle class pay for it.

If you truly value Democracy, but you are voting for Republicans, you’re simply empowering corporations.
