Man killed in two-vehicle accident Friday on U.S. 10

OSCEOLA COUNTY  — A Kentucky man was killed in a car accident on Friday afternoon on U.S. 10 in Richmond Township.

At about 2:34 pm, Deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a two vehicle personal injury accident located on U.S.10 near 185th Avenue in Richmond Township.

Investigation into the incident along with witness accounts indicate that a Toyota passenger vehicle from Kentucky driven by Robert Lee Waldron, 79, of Mt. Washington, KY was driving westbound on U.S. 10, when the vehicle went off the north side of U.S. 10. The car then re-entered U.S. 10, striking an eastbound Ford pick-up.

Waldron was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 69-year-old Kentucky man, was airlifted from the scene to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The 35-year-old Cheboygan man driving the Ford pick up was treated by EMS at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.  The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Evart Police Department in the accident investigation.
