CUSHMAN: On packing bags for Angels of Action

If someone ever asked my opinion of what I thought about Angels of Action, I would say it is mighty generous of the people who donate the food.

The point of it is to give to the children, who don’t have very much food for the weekend, so they are not hungry.

It doesn’t seem like much, but packing food for almost 300 children is a lot. My school helps pack the food for these children. It is a lot of fun being a helper on Thursdays!

If you think about families who don’t have much, this could put them higher on the ladder. Every single kid in different schools will get a chance to have their own bag, even my little brother, who is 7. He’ll find things ranging from fruit snacks, Pop-Tarts and fruit bowls to cereal, Spaghetti-O’s and milk. He calls it a present, even though it has no toys in it.

I like to picture the kids’ excited faces when they discover what is in them. Who knows?Maybe more people will help or start their own food drive.

Maybe someday there will be no child or family going hungry without food, or maybe nothing will change. But, for now, let’s not give up hope just yet. Remember, there are lots of young children still waiting.
