Second Classic Car Cruise-in set for Friday in downtown

BIG RAPIDS — On Friday, a portion of downtown Big Rapids will resemble a time when drivers would get in their cars and cruise the main drag.

The River Valley Car Club and the city of Big Rapids is hosting its second Classic Car Cruise-in from 6 to 8 p.m. this Friday, with one more scheduled the second Friday in August.

The free event will close the north block of Michigan Avenue so cars can cruise-in and park along the street, said Heather Bowman, Big Rapids Department of Parks and Recreation director.

“If you have a unique classic car or something that you found to be a show stopper that people want to check out, you are invited to come,” Bowman said. “There is no registration cost. It is free for participants and spectators. It is free for everyone and the music will enhance the atmosphere.”

The event is sponsored by Gary Trimarco Automotive.
