Man extricated from car in Montcalm County

MONTCALM COUNTY — A man who crashed his vehicle into a tree on Wednesday in Crystal Township was pulled from his vehicle by emergency crews.

Montcalm County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the one-car personal injury accident at 1:39 p.m. on North Shore Drive near Norwest Tack Road in Crystal Township.

Daniel Lee Case, 52, of Stanton, was traveling west on North Shore Drive when he fell asleep and left the roadway. His 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van left the roadway on the south side, striking a large tree.

Crystal Township Fire responded with extrication equipment to free Case, who was transported by Flight Care to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw for his injuries.

It is not believed that alcohol played a factor in this incident and it appeared that he was wearing a seat belt, according to police.
