Tullymore Golf Resort to host Christmas events

BIG RAPIDS – The holiday season is quickly approaching, placing Tullymore Golf Resort in preparation for their annual holiday events.

At 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, cocktails will be served prior to the annual Members Holiday Dinner. At 6:30 p.m., dinner will be served. There is no charge, but members are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift to be donated to the Toys for Tots program, which runs through the Salvation Army. To make a reservation, email dawn@tullymoregolf.com.

Resort members also are preparing for the annual Spirit of Tullymore party, an event designed to provide Christmas gifts to needy children and families. The party will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the clubhouse.

Families are identified by staff in area school districts. Each child receives $100 in gifts and photos with Santa. Families also are given a basket of food for their Christmas dinner and a buffet meal during the party.

“Seeing the children’s faces when they come in the room and see Santa and Mrs. Claus – that’s the thing that is just so incredible,” said Jeanne Giroux, chairperson of the event.

For ideal photos, Giroux encourages members to wear something red the night of the event.

“Members just keep getting more generous,” Giroux said. “I’ve been the chair of this event for a couple years, and I see more and more members donate, want to spend time serving dinner and helping assemble gift bags.”

Members volunteer as hosts, servers, shoppers and gift wrappers. If you are interested in helping, please contact Giroux at (231) 972-0320 or at giroux.jeanne@gmail.com.
