Mohawks fall to Mustangs

GRAND RAPIDS — The Morley Stanwood football team’s season came to a close Friday night after a 42-10 loss to Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian in the Division 6 predistrict
contest.

The Mohawks trailed 28-0 at halftime before getting on the scoreboard on a field goal by Ben Geissler. Morley Stanwood would add a touchdown on a 2-yard pass from Nic Huntey to Riley Burhans.

Dayne Edgerly led the rushing attack for Morley Stanwood with 59 yards. Huntey was 4 for 10 passing for 72 yards.

Josh Grospin led the defensive effort for the Mohawks with seven tackles, while Huntey added five stops. Edgerly and Brock Ramsey added four tackles.

“We moved the ball in the first half,” Morley Stanwood coach Clark Huntey said. “We had the ball for the majority of the first half. We had a couple of turnovers that gave them short fields.”

Morley Stanwood ends the season with a 6-4 record.
