Big Rapids Jaycees shine at annual conference

GRAND RAPIDS — The Big Rapids Jaycees achieved huge success at the Michigan Jaycee Year End Conference event in Grand Rapids over the weekend of Feb. 19. The conference celebrates the best of the best among Michigan’s Jaycee chapters.

The Big Rapids chapter celebrated the receipt of a total of four awards. The annual Warm Clothes Warm Kids Clothing Drive was recognized as the Top Sustaining Project for the 2015 third trimester. This award is given for local chapter projects that show exemplary community and member impact over multiple years.

The Big Rapid Jaycees were awarded the Henry Giessenbier Memorial Award. The Michigan Junior Chamber recognizes chapters each year that have done the best job in developing “the WHOLE member through the WHOLE chapter.”

During the conference, Big Rapids Jaycees 2015 President Ashley Adams was awarded both the David Lichwala Memorial Award and the Martin P. Luthy Memorial Award. The David Lichwala Memorial Award is given to up to 20 outstanding local state presidents. The Martin P. Luthy Memorial Award is given annually to up to 10 of outstanding local presidents.

It was a truly amazing event for the Big Rapids Jaycees, and such accomplishments do not come without extensive hard work and commitment. In attendance to represent the Big Rapids chapter were Lasha Turner, of Wenger Insurance, Ashley Campau and Krystal Hurne, both of NOCTI/NoctiBusinessSolutions, and Ashley Adams, of Re/Max Together.
