Three openings on Great Lakes Energy board

MECOSTA COUNTY — Three openings are available for those who would like to seek election to the Great Lakes Energy Cooperative Board of Directors.

Two vacancies are in election districts 8 and 9 that currently have no directors representing them. District 8 includes parts of Osceola, Clare, Newaygo and Mecosta counties and district 9 covers parts of Ottawa, Kent, Montcalm, Allegan and Barry counties.

The term of director Robert Kran, of Free Soil, expires this year leaving a third vacancy in District 6 (Mason and Lake counties).

Winners will be elected to three-year terms.

To get their names on the ballot, qualifying member-owners of the electric cooperative must file a nominating petition with the cooperative. Petitions must be signed by at least 50 active Great Lakes Energy members within the candidate’s district.

Great Lakes Energy members in each of the three districts will elect one candidate from within their district to the board. Mail-in ballots will be sent with the July/August 2016 issue of Michigan Country Lines magazine. Winners will be announced Aug. 24 at the cooperative’s annual business meeting in Boyne City.

Petition forms and information on director qualifications are available by contacting Great Lakes Energy at (888) 485-2537,
ext. 1331, or glenergy@glenergy.com.
