POLICE BLOTTER: Bikes found in the Muskegon River

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls on Thursday. All calls might not be reported.

Thursday

  • Police received a report of property found at Hemlock Park. The caller found two bikes in the river. After retrieving them, the bikes were turned in to DPS.
  • Officers received a traffic complaint on the 100 block of South State Street. A truck drove through the yard to avoid a possible accident. No damage was done to yard. The truck continued on and did not stop.
  • Officers received a report of a property damage accident on the 100 block of North Michigan Avenue. An 89-year-old man was backing out of a parking spot. He did not know he bumped the car behind him leaving. Contact was made with the driver. He will follow up with police.
  • A green GMC minivan was stopped for having no plates at 8:29 p.m. on the 400 block of Bjornson Street. The driver was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle and no insurance.
