Merry Christmas to our readers

In this season of reflection, gratitude and joy, we’d like to take a moment to pause and address you, our readers. Whether you are a daily subscriber or purchase your paper at a newsstand throughout the week, we wanted to take the time to say thank you.

As the Christmas season reaches its zenith, we extend our best wishes to you and your family throughout this blessed time of year. We hope you find joy, love and merriment with your family and friends this holiday season, whether your traditions include trees, mangers, dreidels or some combination of the above. We wish you peace and prosperity in the coming year.

As we enter this weekend, we also pause to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those in uniform, many of whom cannot be with their loved ones, no matter how much they may wish to be. We thank the members of our armed forces, not forgetting the uniforms closer to home – police officers, firefighters, nurses and other medical professionals – who often also miss family time and holiday celebrations.

Many people often think of those in need at this time of year, and we commend you for reaching out to your fellow man. We also encourage you to remember those in nursing homes, shelters and similar circumstances as the new year begins and throughout the next 12 months until the next Christmas season.

It is the everyday words and deeds of individuals that the world can be made a better place. A kind word, a thoughtful gesture can mean more to the recipient than the giver will ever know.

We encourage everyone to pause, not only at Christmastime, but on a regular basis to remember the many blessings in their lives.

We want you to know we count your support – readers and advertisers – among our blessings. Thank you all, and Merry Christmas!
