Blood drive set for Tuesday in Reed City

Submitted to the Pioneer
REED CITY — Area residents will have an opportunity to donate on the Michigan Blood bus on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital.

The bus will be located in the parking lot in front of Reed City Hospital, on Patterson Road. Blood donations will be collected from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Due to weather, school closings and illness, there has been a significant decline in blood donation across the state. Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital is encouraging return and first-time blood donors to help during this time.

The entire donation process takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes and includes registration, a brief health screening, blood collection, and time for refreshments.

People may be eligible to give blood every 56 days if they are healthy, age 17 or older (or 16 with parent or guardian permission), and weigh 112 pounds or more. However, females age 18 and younger must weigh 120 pounds or more. Please bring photo ID or two pieces of non-photo ID with you. Walk-in appointments are available, or donors may call Michigan Blood at (866) 642-5663 if they prefer to make an appointment.
