Life jacket drive in progress

BIG RAPIDS — To help ensure water safety, the Big Rapids Jaycees and the River Safety committee will be collecting new life jackets every Saturday in March and April.

The Jaycees trailer will be parked at Isabella Bank, on Isabella Drive between Meijer and Walmart, from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Collected life jackets will be given away from 10 am. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, at the Mecosta County Area Community and Family Expo, which will be at the Big Rapids Middle School, located at 500 N. Warren in Big Rapids.

Jaycees members will be fitting and giving away life jackets so families can be prepared to enjoy the water safely this summer. Life jackets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and only while supplies last.
