BIG RAPIDS TWP. — Climbing inside fire trucks, spraying a hose and exploring the station were all activities available to attendees of the Big Rapids Township Fire Department open house Saturday.

The Big Rapids Township Fire Department hosted the event to let local residents get a closer look at the department’s gear and equipment, as well as the area where they work and train.

Attendees also were able to meet firefighters from the Big Rapids Township Fire Department and see plans for a proposed building addition.
