“Thank you to all my family here,” she said.

After Telfer’s family and Metron staff and residents sang “Happy Birthday,” cake and ice cream were dished out. Telfer sat where she could see everyone enjoying themselves as she does not like being the center of attention, her daughter, Mary Blakely, said.

“Birthday parties aren’t my speed,” Telfer said with a laugh.

Instead, Telfer enjoys reading murder mystery books, watching “M*A*S*H” and westerns and happily talking about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Telfer also enjoys watching baseball, particularly the Pittsburg Pirates because her great-nephew, Clint Hurdle, is the team’s manager.
