Lincoln Stars name Cody Chupp head coach

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids native and Ferris State hockey alum Cody Chupp has been named head coach of the United States Hockey League’s Lincoln Stars.

Chupp, a two-time captain at Ferris, tallied 94 points in 155 games for the Bulldogs. Following his time in Big Rapids, he embarked on a three-year professional career with the Texas Stars (AHL), Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Penguins (AHL) and Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and totaled 20 points in 85 AHL games.

“I am extremely excited and thankful to be named head coach of the Lincoln Stars,” Chupp said during his Lincoln Stars press conference. “I would like to thank Jon Hull and Ryan Schiff for this amazing opportunity as well as Pat Mikesch, Jeff Mitchell, Brendan Bruss and the entire Green Bay Gamblers organization. The Stars have built a rich tradition of success fueled by a passionate fan base that is second to none. My family and I are thrilled to join this special hockey family and cannot wait to get started in Lincoln.”

Chupp began his coaching career in 2013-14 as an assistant for Utica College and had spent the past three seasons as an assistant for the Green Bay Gamblers.
