BIG RAPIDS — Lance Strpko is in his senior season for the Big Rapids soccer team, which is looking at playing its best soccer at the right time.

This marks his fourth season on the varsity. He’s been a center attacking-mid and has seen some goal scoring this season. He had 14 goals as a sophomore.

“I look for my teammates to pass and for me to give them the opportunity to score goals,” Strpko said. “My main goal is to feed my team.”

His role has changed somewhat this season, Strpko said.

“It’s a little more that I get open for them and find them where they need to be,” he said. “It usually comes together pretty well, finding them and seeing them get goals.”

Strpko said his vision on the field has improved this season, and being able to find the key pass to make.

“I’m looking to help everyone stay positive and try to give them positive reinforcement,” he said.

Big Rapids is coming off a 5-0 Central State Activities Association win against Grant on Monday.

“I think this team is capable of going through districts if we play as well as we have been playing,” Strpko said.

Big Rapids is at Reed City on Wednesday for CSAA action. Big Rapids mercied the Coyotes earlier in the season. The Cardinals’ next home game is on Monday against Lakeview. Other home games are on Oct. 2 with Fremont, on Oct. 9 with Newaygo and on Oct. 11 with Grant.
