Croton Dam east tail water site to close one day, Oct. 2

Submitted to the Pioneer

NEWAYGO — Access will be closed to the east tail water site at Croton Dam for one day, on Monday, Oct. 2, to allow Consumers Energy crews to safely work there. Muskegon River access will remain on the west side of the dam.

The east tail water access site is on the left side of the dam when facing downstream, on the side of the river closet to the Village of Croton.

Signs will clearly mark that the site is closed while crews conduct soil testing at the hydro facility. While this work is being done, anglers and other recreationalists will be able to access the river by Croton Dam from the west tail water access site.

Consumers Energy reminds visitors to safely and quickly exit the river if they hear the sirens that signal dangerous changes to flow conditions at hydro facilities.
