Empty the Shelter Day set for Saturday, Oct. 14

Omar is one of the many kittens available for adoption during the Empty the Shelter Day on Saturday.

REMUS — AuCaDo Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Shelter, an animal shelter in Remus that specializes in cats and cattle dogs, will be participating in Empty the Shelter Day, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation.

For this event, on Saturday, Oct. 14, adoption fees are paid by Bissell, giving families a few extra dollars to put toward their new pet’s supplies, such as food and toys, said AuCaDo Director Monica Larner.

The adoption event will be from 10 a.m until 2 p.m. at the shelter, located at 3861 12 Mile Road, Remus. Families hoping to adopt one of the 20 cats and kittens available can fill out an application online or in person during the event. If a family hopes to give a dog a forever home, they need to fill out an application by Friday, Oct. 13.

Adoption applications can be found at australian-cattle.dog, and a list of pets looking for loving homes can be found on petfinder.com.
