BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids golfers like Haley Geib wouldn’t mind having their best performances of the season on Thursday at Katke Golf course.

The regionals will be at Katke and Geib, who was an all-conference player for the Central State Activities Association champions this season, are hoping to play well enough to advance to the state finals.

It’s been Geib’s senior season and the third-year varsity player would like to extend it another week to the state finals. She indicated last season has been her best so far. Her best score so far this year has been a 91.

In her high school career, the best score has been 90. Her average for his season has been in the high 90s.

Being on a league champion team has been a highlight for Geib.

“For me a highlight has been not only learning to be a better golfer but learning how to be mentally tougher,” Geib said. “I think mentally, I’ve become a better golfer and a better person.”

Putting has been a key part of her game and she’s been focusing on other areas.

“My hopes for regionals is to play the best I can,” Geib said, “and help my team out and hopefully advance to the state finals.”

Geib sees it as an advantage of playing regionals at Katke for herself and the Cardinals.

“I’ve grown up playing here my whole life basically,” he said. “I see that as an advantage and I hope the other girls see it that way, too.”
