Economic development luncheon set for Oct. 18

BIG RAPIDS — The Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting an economic development luncheon for small businesses in the county.

According to a release from the chamber, the “Economic Drivers to Move Your Business Forward” luncheon will feature experts from various local and state agencies who will share their view on the the local economy, as well as how to evaluate and improve a small business within the current economy.

The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Miller Wing of the Mecosta Osceola Career Center, 15830 190th Ave., Big Rapids.

Featured speakers will include Jim Sandy, Mecosta County Development Corporation; Nick Scheible, Lerner, Csernai, and Fath Financial; Ed Garner, Small Business Development Center of Michigan; and Rob Fowler, president and CEO of the Small Business Association of Michigan.

“The goal of the luncheon is for the community to have a better understanding of the local economy,” said Jennifer Heinzman, executive director of the chamber of commerce. “Our hope is for business owners and representatives to leave with tools to help move their company forward.”

Tickets are available to purchase for the luncheon, which is open to the community. Lunch will be provided by Ferris State University Catering.
