POLICE BLOTTER: Two-vehicle accident occurs when driver runs stop sign on Elm Street

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls on Monday and Tuesday. All calls might not be reported.

Monday

• Police assisted the probation/parole department with attempting to locate a subject on the 500 block of South Michigan Avenue.

• Officers responded to a personal injury accident on Elm Street near Stewart Avenue. A vehicle ran a stop sign at Elm Street and crashed into a vehicle traveling southbound on Stewart Avenue. The occupants of the second vehicle were transported to the hospital.

• A 57-year-old man reported a 50-year-old woman had threatened to kick him out of his residence.

• Officers assisted Ferris State University DPS with a well-being check on the 600 block of Lilac Avenue.

• A 32-year-old man is being investigated for criminal sexual conduct charges. The matter is under investigation.

• A two-vehicle accident occurred on the 800 block of Division Street.

• Officers stood by during a civil matter on the 300 block of South Fourth Avenue.

• Police responded to a car-deer accident at 8:09 p.m. on Chestnut Street near Ives Avenue. There was no damage to the vehicle. The deer was given to local hunters.

• Officers were called about an abandoned vehicle at 9:15 p.m. on Fuller Avenue near Bailey Drive. A 2000 Volkswagen convertible was parked near the intersection, interfering with traffic. The vehicle was towed. Police were unable to locate a registered owner.

Tuesday

• A traffic stop at 2:36 a.m. on Bellevue Street near State Street resulted in a 29-year-old Dorr woman being arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated third offense and driving with a suspended license second offense. She also had a warrant out of Kent County. The vehicle was turned over to another sober driver.

• Officers assisted the parole department with checking on a parolee at 3:33 a.m. on the 400 block of South Warren Avenue. No violations were found.
