Ferris to host Ouachita Baptist in first round of D2 playoffs

BIG RAPIDS — The Ferris State football team has its playoff opponent.

The No.4-seed Bulldogs will host the fifth-seeded Ouachita Baptist in a first-round playoff game at 12 p.m. Saturday at Top Taggart Field.

Saturday’s game will be Ouachita Baptist’s second-ever postseason appearance. The Tigers finished 9-2 on the season and clinched its third Great American Conference championship in the process.

Ouachita Baptist averages 39.4 points per game while allowing 26.1 points.

The Tigers are led at the quarterback position by Austin Warford. The 5’10” redshirt senior has completed 148 of 221 passes for 2,072 yards, 13 touchdowns, and two interceptions while rushing 110 times for 643 yards and six touchdowns.

The Bulldogs will have their hand full with wide receiver Drew Harris. He is a threat out wide and in the backfield, having rushed the ball 77 times for 489 yards and 20 touchdowns while tallying 42 catches for 723 yards and six touchdowns. Harris had 271 yards of all-purpose yards and seven total touchdowns in a Nov. 10 win over Henderson State.

Senior linebacker Elijah Davis leads the defense with 91 tackles (seven for loss) and two interceptions.
