REED CITY — Reed City’s boys basketball team had practice sessions this week to get ready for the January portion of its schedule.

But players like Zac Saez are eager to extend the three-game winning streak, which they took into the holiday break.

Saez is in his sophomore season. He was brought up to the Coyotes as a freshman last year.

The Coyotes were 4-17 last season.

“It was hard getting used to it,” Saez said. “(This year) it’s going a lot better. I’m doing more for the team and making the right plays.”

Shooting is among his strengths, Saez indicated.

The Coyotes lost their first game against Cadillac but have won three straight including impressive wins over Central State Activities Association Gold Division contenders Newaygo and Fremont.

Reed City resumes action at Grant on Jan. 5 in CSAA Gold Division action.

“We’re focusing, working hard and staying in shape and playing as a team,” Saez said. “We need to keep playing as a team and care about each other. I think we can for sure be conference and district champs.”
