AAUW now collecting book donations

BIG RAPIDS — The local American Association of University Women chapter is now collecting all genres of books for its upcoming annual sale in April.

Donations will be accepted until April 5 at Big Rapids Community Library, the back entrance of Artworks, Immanuel Lutheran Church and St. Mary Catholic Church. All genres of books, CDs, DVDs and audio books are accepted, but magazines and encyclopedias are not.

The yearly used book sale is a fundraiser, with all proceeds going toward scholarships for women enrolled at Ferris State University. Usually, recipients are juniors or seniors with proven financial need who have demonstrated diligence in pursuing their degrees.

This year’s sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 6, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at Big Rapids First United Methodist Church, 304 Elm St., Big Rapids.

Anyone unable to deliver books to the drop-off sites or who would like more information can contact Millie Gillies at (231) 796-2460.
