Ferris welcomes spring semester students with activities

BIG RAPIDS — To welcome students back for the spring semester, Ferris State University’s Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services has coordinated multiple events across campus.

The list of events includes:

Today, Friday, Jan. 12, students can laugh with their friends to comedian Jen Kober. Kober will begin at 8 p.m. in the University Center’s room 202. The event is sponsored by Entertainment Unlimited and funded by the student activity fee. This free event is open to the public.

A rock climbing wall will be set up for students from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Student Recreation Center.

A variety of events are planned for Martin Luther King Jr. Day from Monday, Jan. 15, through Wednesday, Jan. 17. Events are coordinated by the Office of Multicultural Student Services.

Students can spend their afternoon organizing and decorating their planners from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Students can meet in the Center for Leadership, Activities, and Career Services Lobby. Students can bring their own planner, or one will be provided.

Students should come to campus hungry on Thursday, Jan. 18, as a free pancake bar will be set up from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Interdisciplinary Resource Center connector. Later, students can participate in the “How Well Do You Know…” progressive game show at 7 p.m. in the residence hall and University Center. More games will be available beginning at 8 p.m. during Welcome Back Game Night, hosted by the African Student Union.

Beginning at 9 p.m. and running until midnight, the Ferris community can celebrate the anniversary of the University Center on Friday, Jan. 19. The party will take place at the University Center.

On Sunday, Jan. 21, students can try their luck again at the rock climbing wall, which will be set up from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center.

Those returning for the spring semester can enjoy the fun and win prizes during the Spring RSO Fair. The fair runs from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, and will be in room 202 of the University Center.

A social impact project can be worked on from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in room 202 of the University Center.

The month of fun wraps up with 90’s night at the Rink Hockey Game on Friday, Jan. 26. Students and staff should bring their neon clothes to cheer on the Ferris Bulldogs at the Ewigleben Sports Complex, located at 210 Sports Drive, Big Rapids. The game begins at 6 p.m.
