BIG RAPIDS — For the first time in his collegiate career, Ferris State University freshman forward Coale Norris (Oxford) is this week’s recipient of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rookie of the Week honor.

Norris tallied a gaol and an assist in the Bulldogs’ weekend split on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 12-13) against Lake Superior State in Sault Ste. Marie.

The freshman forward produced the game-winner with an early first period goal in Friday’s 4-0 shutout to open the weekend at Taffy Abel Ice Arena. He also posted an assist on FSU’s second goal early in the third period on Saturday as the Bulldogs fought back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game before falling 5-3 in the Soo.

For the weekend, Norris had five shots and was +1 on the ice while also winning 19 faceoffs.
