Rupe to be special guest speaker at Grant Center UMC

BIG RAPIDS — Majenica Rupe will be the special guest speaker during the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Grant Center United Methodist Church, 15260 21 Mile Road, Big Rapids.

Rupe is a graduate of Big Rapids High School and the University of Notre Dame, where she played both basketball and volleyball. After graduation she went on to play professional basketball for 13 years in Eastern and Western Europe, South America, Russia, China and the Middle East. She retired in 2006 and has been teaching English as a second language in South Korea, Saudi Arabia, China and Japan, Arizona State University, the University of Colorado and, most recently, at the Southern University of Science and Technology in China.

In addition to teaching, she has authored two books of her travels: “Fire of the Orange Ball: Born to Play and Called to Prophesy” and “Sons of Thunder,” and has presented workshops on spiritual gifts including prophesy, spirituality and politics. Her topic will be, “Seeing With New Eyes.” The public is invited to attend her talk, get a book signed and say hello.
