BIG RAPIDS — After another big week of action, Ferris State University junior center Zach Hankins (Charlevoix) has been chosen as this week’s Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week.

The 6-10 standout led the third-ranked Bulldogs to a home sweep over Northwood and Saginaw Valley State inside FSU’s Jim Wink Arena this past weekend. Hankins shot an impressive 81% (17-21) from the floor on the weekend while averaging 22 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots per game.

The All-America center netted a team-high 20 points with 11 boards and six blocks in Thursday’s 88-60 win over NU before coming back to score 24 points with nine rebounds and six blocks in Saturday’s decisive 107-83 win against the Cardinals.

Hankins also shot 63% from the free throw stripe in the two games while totaling 44 points, 20 rebounds and 12 blocks overall for the week.

His play helped FSU hold onto a two-game lead atop the GLIAC as the Bulldogs improved to 23-1 overall and 13-1 in league action while staying unbeaten (14-0) at home this season.
Ferris State hits the road this week to open a four-game league road stretch starting on Thursday (Feb. 8) night at Tiffin with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. (ET) in Tiffin, Ohio. FSU then ventures to Ashland on Saturday (Feb. 10) for a 3 p.m. (ET) matchup against the Eagles.
