Circus, Circus set for Friday, Feb. 23

Crossroads Charter Academy second-graders sing one of the many numbers in their upcoming performance of “Circus, Circus.” The play is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23.

UPDATE: Due to weather related school closings, the Crossroads Charter Academy second-grade play “Circus, Circus” will be presented at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.

BIG RAPIDS — Community members can enjoy a show under the big top while seated in the Crossroads Charter Academy auditorium as second-grade students perform “Circus, Circus.”

The play focuses on a circus coming to town, complete with lions, jugglers, dancing bears and clowns, including one in need of a little help to smile again. All the show is missing is a ringmaster, who has come down with a case of laryngitis. The performers must find someone to lead the circus for the show to go on.

“This is a story of teamwork and togetherness,” said director Theresa Barger. “It’s really fun to see the kids learn their spots, shine in the spotlight and accomplish something they didn’t think the could do.”

The free show is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday at the auditorium, located at 215 W. Spruce St., Big Rapids.
