Osceola County officials to discuss land bids, COA

REED CITY — During the process to formulate Osceola County’s current budget, officials looked to sell county-owned property to help generate unexpected revenue for the general fund.

During their next Committee of the Whole meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at the Reed City Courthouse, county commissioners will discuss bid results for the 2.16 acres of land, known as the Dighton property, adjacent to the Osceola County Road Commission property near Tustin.

In January, officials received word the road commission had interest in the property; however, the price was more than what the road commission wanted to pay. County commissioners decided to go through the bid process at that time.

During Tuesday’s meeting, county commissioners also are expected to discuss the following items:

• A brownfield grant application;

• Commission on Aging items, including the handicap entrance and kitchen at the department’s building in Tustin and Bark in the Park;

• Emergency Medical Services bad debt report for the first quarter of the year;

• Appointments to the Mecosta Osceola Transit Authority and resignation of Morris Langworthy; and

• The employment agreement with County Coordinator Susan Vander Pol.
