Turkey shoot a fun time for Luther residents

Saturday was a perfect sunny day to hit the shooting range. The first Luther Area Community Turkey Shoot and Multiple Food Raffle provided area residents with an opportunity to shoot at targets in the yard of the Luther Lions Club Hall and win food baskets during a fundraiser for the Luther Lions Club and the Luther United Methodist Church Steeple project. The steeple project is a community effort pay for renovations to the bell tower of the historic Luther United Methodist Church building.

Department of Natural Resources certified hunters safety trainers were on hand to assist participants on the range, including children and those who never shot a gun before. More than 15 frozen turkeys were given away to those who had perfect marksmanship. (Pioneer photos/Shanna Avery)
