GRANT — Reed City finished second for the boys and fifth for the girls in the CSAA Gold conference meet on Monday at Grant.

Phillip Jones won the 200 (23.13).

For the boys, Jackson Price won the 100 (11.75).

“We’ve had no preseason with the weather as bad as it was and had all of our meets shoved into two weeks with no time to train.”

Calvin Rohde was second in the 400 and 800.

The relay team of Nicholas Douglass Price, Noah Jones and Phillip Jones won the 4×100 (44.90), Michael Johnson won the discus, and Jackson Price won the long jump (19-9 ½).

For the girls, Faith Woods (15-6) won the long jump. Emily Libey was second (5-4).

“Jackson Price had a great day for us,” Reed City coach Brent Michell said. “He was also a part of the second place 4×400 team. It looks like Phillip is getting back to full strength after his mid-season injury. We’re really happy with our throwes.

“Michel and Austin Fowler were one-two in the shot and scored in the discus. Calvin Rohde had some seconds for us. The kids ran well. I’m proud of them.”

“We’ve had no preseason with the weather as bad as it was and had all of our meets shoved into two weeks with no time to train.”

The regional meet is on Saturday at Benzie. The Coyotes hope to qualify many athletes for the state meet on June 2

“There will be some good athletes in every event,” Michell said.
