Crossroads softball, baseball players receive honors

BIG RAPIDS — Crossroads baseball and softball players have received all-conference honors from the West Michigan D League

The softball team landed five players on the squad. Catcher Maddie Albert and first baseman Hannah Curtis were on the first team; pitcher Mckenzie Cole and shortstop Megan Schultz on the second team and Bethany Curtis at third base.

Albert had an average of .531, an on-base percentage of .684, 10 doubles, two triples, 28 RBIs, 39 runs scored and 22 stolen bases.

“Maddie was voted team captain,” Crossroads coach Kevin Brigham said. “She’s a hard working kid who attended all offseason workouts. She caught every game but one the entire season. She’s a great defensive catcher with a strong arm and has a 3.5 GPA. She was a team leader that helped the school achieve the most wins in school history and the best conference record for the school at 9-3.

Curtis had a .468 average, .603 on-base percentage, six doubles, two home runs, 22 RBIs, 31 runs scored, on-base percentage of .603, six doubles, two home runs, 22 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 12 stolen bases.

“Hannah has been a four-year starter at CCA,” Brigham. “She’s the best defensive first baseman I have seen in a long time. She works very hard and was a huge part of our success this season. She was a team leader that helped the school achieve the most wins in school history and the best conference record for the school at 9-3.”

For baseball, Mike Thorne, senior co-captain, was first team all-conference. His pitching record was 3 -6 with an ERA of 9.92. He was first-team all-conference West Michigan D League.
