Habitat for Humanity hosts ground breaking ceremony

Big Rapids area community members gathered to celebrate the ground breaking ceremony on the newest home being built by the Mecosta County Habitat for Humanity. Funding for the home was donated by Michael and Stevie Riley and Glen (Pete) and Irene Nix, represented at the ceremony by Bob and Nia Godbold. The plot of land for the home was donated by the Hurt family, represented by children Charles Hurt Jr., Judy Feutz, Karla Kinney and Mirabahn CairobĂ©. The new homeowners, Jennifer Deater and her son Zac, said they were overwhelmed by the amount of support from the community. “I never thought this would happen, it’s amazing to see how much people want to help us,” Zac said.
